Back by popular demand! Emma Jean Jansen will be teaching two classes in October. On Sunday Emma will teach the fabulous Thora Belle
Thora Belle is a stylish quilt design that would look fabulous on a bed or draped over a lounge. It is made using a raw-edge appliqué technique. The fabric shapes are attached to the background using double-sided fusible web, then stitched around the edge of each shape three times. Perfect for showcasing those large prints that you just can’t bear to cut into. You have probably seen the model hanging in the shop! Emma will show you how do raw-edge applique to attach the shapes.
Emma Jean Jansen has been creating patchwork quilts since she was a teenager. She learnt patchwork from her mother and together they ran Ballarat Patchwork for over 10 years. Emma loves designing her own quilts and is known for her use of bright colours and re-take on traditional piecing. Emma is also a qualified Textile Designer getting her degree from RMIT and has released 7 fabrics ranges with the Australian company Ella Blue. In May 2016, Emma released her first book called By The Bundle, published by Lucky Spool Media.
