Sunday 12th August
10 am - 4 pm
We are excited to welcome Emma Jean Jansen back to teach two fabulous classes at Makerie. In Sunday's class Emma will teach her striking Harlequin Stars quilt.
You will learn the freezer paper foundation piecing method, which is perfect for achieving precise points. This quilt also features curved piecing, which will be covered during the class.
The quilt requires careful cutting and accurate sewing, but once you have mastered this approach, you may never want to foundation piece any other way. Emma will guide you through the process step by step, sharing tips and tricks to help you achieve success.
**To make the most of your class time, it is recommended that you pre-cut one or two blocks before class. This will allow more time to focus on learning and building confidence with both freezer paper foundation piecing and curved piecing.
Emma Jean Jansen has been creating patchwork quilts since she was a teenager. She learnt patchwork from her mother and together they ran Ballarat Patchwork for over 10 years. Emma loves designing her own quilts and is known for her use of bright colours and re-take on traditional piecing. Emma is also a qualified Textile Designer getting her degree from RMIT and has released 7 fabrics ranges with the Australian company Ella Blue. In May 2016, Emma released her first book called By The Bundle, published by Lucky Spool Media.
