Description
3 Sessions on Wednesdays
16th, 23rd, & 30th October
10:00am - 1:00pm
Many of us who work with yarn have a deep love for our wool. Learning to spin your own wool can bring you even closer to the sheep. Spinning can be a very meditative and mindful practice, and will give you a new appreciation for the journey yarn takes to make it to your needles.
Every step you take in spinning will make you a better knitter or crocheter. You will become intimately acquainted with fiber, draft, and ply, and see and feel how they interact and affect your knitting or crochet. Refining this skill can give you the ability to make exactly the yarn you want to work with.
A drop spindle is the perfect tool to begin your spinning journey. It is affordable and portable and allows you to learn the skills to become and expert spinner.
By the end of this course you will be able to make your own yarn for hand knitting or weaving, and understand about the techniques of spindle spinning and fibre preparation.
