Description

Saturday 15th November
10:00am – 3:00pm

A fabric covered Moravian star is an impressive ornament to show off your skills. Made in Christmas fabrics it is a beautiful addition to your Christmas decorations.

In this workshop you learn how to fussy cut fabric to cover cardboard diamond shapes. These will then be hand stitched, similarly to English paper piecing, to construct a 3-dimensional star.

Pattern with pre-cut cardboard shapes to make a 10inch star included in the class fee.

Please bring with you:

  • 5 Fat quarters or pieces of scrap fabric at least 5” square. You will need 60 pieces.
  • Fine sewing needles, the smallest/finest you can comfortably work with. I use long sharps or “Gold” eye Darners 3/9.
  • Sewing threads to complement your fabrics. I like to use Wonderfil or Superior threads “The Bottom Line” (I will have some bobbins filled with bottom line for sale for $2.50)
  • 12 buttons or beads for embellishment (optional)
  • Scissors to cut paper and fabric
  • 1 sheet of 160 to 200 grit sandpaper. The shop sells ready-made
  • Pencil for marking your fabrics
  • Thimble
  • Sharpener
  • Pen and paper to take notes
  • Glue

Morning and afternoon tea will be provided. Please bring your own lunch or plan to buy lunch locally. We have a fridge and microwave available for use.
