Learn the art of quilting and create warm, cozy pieces for your home or as thoughtful gifts. Through four mini-projects, you will develop the essential skills of selecting fabrics, assembling blocks, and finishing your work. By the end of the course, you will feel confident to take on a full size quilt project independently.

Class Outline
Week 1: The first session is an introduction to patchwork and quilting and learn about terminology, equipment, and methodologies. In this class you will be introduced to basic techniques through a small hand-sewn project.

Week 2: Master the basic skills of patchwork, and within a few hours you will have a beautiful pillow cover with an envelope back.

Week 3: This mug rug introduces you to half-square triangles, which can be combined endlessly to make all sorts of patterns. This project also uses patchwork, batting, backing, and binding, so it is in effect a mini quilt.

Week 4: Your last lesson will introduce you to the octagon. By tackling a more advanced shape you will learn tricks on how to tackle many other shapes encountered in quilt blocks. You will make a table runner project.

Course fee includes the beginner quilting text book, and all the kit fabrics, backings, etc required to make the class projects.

In the first lesson Chris will discuss the additional equipment you will need to purchase to make the class projects. (cutting mats, rulers, cutters, etc)

Students to bring to class on their first lesson:
- Note book, pen
- Hand sewing equipment – needles, pins, fabric scissors, thimble, etc
- Reel of good quality neutral coloured thread
